Repairs & Maintenance

How do I know if I need electrical repairs?

Common signs include flickering lights, burning smells, breakers that trip frequently, outlets that don’t work, or buzzing sounds from outlets or breakers. Contact us if you notice any of these issues.

What is a breaker that keeps tripping a sign of?

A breaker that trips repeatedly may indicate a circuit overload, short circuit, or faulty breaker. Have it inspected by a licensed electrician immediately.

How often should I have my electrical system inspected?

We recommend having your electrical system inspected every 3-5 years, or if you notice any problems. New homes should be inspected before closing.

Safety & Code

Are your electricians licensed?

Yes, all MEC Electrical technicians are licensed, insured, and trained professionals. We maintain strict adherence to the National Electrical Code and all local regulations.

Do you pull permits for your work?

Yes, we handle all necessary permits and inspections to ensure your project meets code requirements and is completed properly.

What is a GFCI outlet?

GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) outlets provide protection against electrical shock in wet areas like bathrooms and kitchens. We recommend these for homes with children and pets.

Solar & Energy Efficiency

What are the benefits of solar?

Solar power can reduce purchased electricity and support your energy goals. Savings depend on your property, system, electricity rates, and financing. The federal residential clean energy credit is unavailable for property placed in service after December 31, 2025. Maryland assistance, solar renewable energy credits, and net metering have separate eligibility rules. See our solar incentives overview for current program links and details.

Can you install solar panels on any roof?

Most roofs are suitable for solar, but we evaluate roof condition, age, orientation, and shading. Ground-mounted systems are also available for properties without ideal roof conditions.
